RDA Launches EU Funded Agri-Cooperatives Project in West Georgia
RDA’s geographical coverage expanded to West Georgia from January 1, 2014, after gaining an opportunity to implement Small Farmers Co-operation component of ENPARD Georgia program as part of the consortia with CARE International in the Caucasus and International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University (ISET).
The European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development in Georgia (ENPARD Georgia) is an EUR 40 Million EU-funded programme signed with the Government of Georgia in December 2012 and aiming to support the implementation of Agriculture sector strategy.
Within ENPARD Georiga, RDA is in charge of field operations for development of sustainable cooperatives in seven districts of Samegrelo (Abasha, Senaki, Khobi), Guria (Ozurgeti, Lanchkhuti, Chokhatauri) and Kvemo Svaneti (Tsageri) where it started soliciting business ideas from interested farmer groups and cooperatives. The project will train and/or finance up to 60 cooperative projects throughout its lifespan
